Now, silence unknown callers on WhatsApp: here’s how to enable it

WhatsApp silence unknown calls

This feature is quite self-explanatory as it will essentially let you silence unknown calls on WhatsApp. Considering how WhatsApp is widely used in India not just for messaging but calling as well, this feature can come handy especially if you don’t like receiving calls from unknown numbers.

You can enable this by going opening WhatsApp > Settings > Privacy > Calls > Silence Unknown Callers.

Once you turn this feature on, any calls from unknown numbers will be automatically silenced. But these calls will still be visible in the calls tab of WhatsApp, and it will also appear in your notifications. This way you won’t be disturbed but you’ll still be notified of who was trying to call you.

WhatsApp privacy checkup

As the name suggests, WhatsApp privacy checkup gives you detailed run-through of the various privacy settings available on the app. You can follow the same path to get to the privacy checkup feature on your phone. Once you get here, select ‘Start checkup’ and you will be presented with a menu of privacy settings that you can go through individually.

Here, you’ll find privacy settings such as choosing who can contact you, controlling your personal info, chat privacy, and more. WhatsApp has basically collated different privacy settings and put them under one relevant banner. For example, under the privacy setting to choose who can contact you, you’ll find options to choose who can add you to groups, silence unknown callers, and block contacts.

Similarly, you’ll find other privacy settings clubbed together. You can still manually check each setting as before but this section just gives you a more convenient way to change privacy settings.
