Nothing Phone (1) will launch in India on July 12th and is the brand’s first smartphone, coming after the Nothing Ear (1) TWS earbuds. The company’s founder, Carl Pei is previously the co-founder of OnePlus. Nothing Phone (1) design and some key specifications have been teased/confirmed by the company to create hype for the launch. The main highlight of the phone is the LED lighting on the back panel that is user customisable. Interestingly, Nothing has picked a mid-range Snapdragon 778+ chipset for its first phone and not a flagship offering.

The Nothing Phone (1) design takes centre stage. It has a centre-positioned punch-hole cutout for the selfie snapper, very narrow bezels, and flat edges. The power button is on the right edge, while the volume rocker is on the left edge. The USB Type-C port and speaker grills are at the bottom. The entire frame seems to be made out of metal and is quite boxy similar to iPhones.

Nothing Phone (1) price in India isn’t revealed but the European cost has been leaked online. The handset is said to start at EUR 470 (Approx. Rs 38,800) for the 8GB/128GB model, EUR 500 (Approx. Rs 41,300) for the 8GB/256GB version and EUR 550 (Approx. Rs 45,400) for the 12GB/256GB. We can speculate the cost in India could start at around Rs 30,000 price range.

The company is offering a Rs 2,000 instant discount via HDFC Credit and EMI transactions on Flipkart. Customers need to purchase the pre-order pass on the e-commerce platform in order to buy the phone when it launches next week.

Nothing Phone (1) is said to pack a 4,500mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging over a USB Type-C charging port and reverse wireless charging at 5W. It will have an in-display fingerprint sensor for security, Dolby Atmos, and stereo speakers. Connectivity options could include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS and NFC.

Moving to optics, the Nothing Phone (1) will have a dual-camera setup, with a 50MP primary sensor and a 16MP secondary ultra-wide-angle lens. On the front, it is said to get a 16MP snapper for selfies and video chats.
