Not at work, 11 doctors in govt health centres served notices – ET HealthWorld
Gurgaon: Eleven healthcare staff, including 10 doctors and a senior medical officer, were issued notices after they were found to be absent during surprise inspections at three health centres in the city on Friday.
Gurgaon chief medical officer Virender Yadav undertook a surprise check at the Farrukhnagar sub-divisional hospital, the Hajipur Patli primary health centre (PHC) and the Choma urban primary health centre (UPHC). The CMO also flagged issues with record-keeping and hygiene conditions at the centres.
The 11 healthcare staff have been asked to explain why departmental action must not be taken against them. They have two days to respond.
For now, the CMO has directed that the staff’s salaries be stopped until they can regularise their attendance.
“During a visit to the Farrukhnagar sub-divisional hospital and Hajipur Patli primary health centre, I found several irregularities regarding cleanliness and hygiene. Also, at the Farrukhnagar centre, 8 doctors, including a SMO (senior medial officer), were not at their duty and at the PHC, one doctor was absent for duty,” Yadav said.
The CMO also went through attendance sheets, and observed that several staff members weren’t coming in regularly.
According to the rules, the staff should arrive at 8am to start OPDs and stay till 2pm. “They will have to explain the reason behind irregular attendance within two working days. Till the time their attendance is regularised, their salaries will be stopped. All were directed to ensure compliance in coming on time,” he added.
Yadav also expressed displeasure over the lack of cleanliness in the centres and asked the staff to pay attention to hygiene in the facility’s washrooms.
At the Choma health centre, some records of patients were not maintained properly, and the Lakhman Vihar UPHC was found locked at 5:25pm, though its closing time is 6pm, he said.
