HMD Global-owned Nokia has announced that Nokia 9 PureView will not be upgraded to Android 11. The smartphone was launched in 2019 with Android 9 Pie operating system. The company then promised that the handset will be eligible for two years of Android updates.
However, as per a new update on its Polish website, the smartphone will not be receiving the Android 11 operating system update. The company outlines that the device’s camera experience and its features to be the main reason for the decision. Nokia says that the device’s camera software and features are not compatible with Android 11.
Biggest highlight of Nokia 9 PureView is its penta-lens camera setup present on the rear side. If upgraded to Android 11, the device will launch its core appeal. Powered by Zeiss, the smartphone comes with three 12MP monochrome sensors and two 12MP RGB sensors. When a user takes a shot, each of these cameras is triggered and then the phone fuses these photos to create a single image.
At the front, the smartphone comes with a 20MP selfie camera. Nokia 9 PureView is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core chipset. It is equipped with a 5.99-inch Quad-HD+ POLED screen with 18.5:9 aspect ratio and 1440×2960 pixel resolution. The handset features an in-display fingerprint sensor and packs 6GB of RAM. It is backed by a 3,320mAh battery.
