Artemis 1 will be the first integrated test of NASA’s deep space exploration system at Kennedy Space Center. The uncrewed flight test is projected to travel 280,000 miles from Earth on a three-week mission that will place the Orion spacecraft in orbit around the Moon before returning to Earth. The mission will serve as a keystone test for NASA’s future crewed Artemis missions. Backup dates for the launch are Friday, September 2, and Monday, September 5 (Labor Day).
