“If I solely depend on films and web-shows then it will be impossible for me to sustain in Mumbai. There may be a lot of work in the industry but then there is oversupply of actors as well. Everyone wants to act and there is so much talent around. It’s important to dabble in different mediums simultaneously,” says the Manto (2015) and Facebook Wala Pyar (2019) actor.

The actor says, “I have had two theatrical releases and my web-series Mukesh Jasoos is streaming on a leading platform but to improve my craft I need to continue being on my toes. So, I am doing short films, plays, dance performances and even social media campaigns. It’s not only is an opportunity to showcase my work but is also a good money…which is very important,” she says.

A trained fashion designer Thakkar took up modelling. “Then, I started giving auditions soon I got my first big ad. By now, I have done over 100 ads. It was during my modelling stint that I got Manto where I played yesteryear star Suraiya’s role. There I met Ila (Arun) ji who guided me towards theatre. I went on to do my first play Peer Ghani directed by KK Raina. I enjoyed the process and since then have been doing plays as well.”

Thakkar says she equally enjoys the short film concept. “I did Lady in Red, I am Woman, Do I Exist: A Riddle and Pill Hai Ki Manta Nahi. I’m next shooting Kunal Verma’s short film Muraad with Sharib Hashmi which will be most probably shot in Lucknow. I played female lead in yet-to-release Tamil film Perfect Love starring Ramesh Aravind and have shot for feature film Phir Se Shadi starring Sharib, Sheeba Chaddha and Danish Hussain. It was shot in Aligarh just before lockdown and is due for release.”

On her UP connect she says, “My parents belong to Meerut where I was born and have done my initial schooling. Then work brought my parents to Mumbai. My mom is from musical background and is a music composer. Since school I was into dance and all, so all this probably contributed to my journey.”
