BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Day two of the Mid-South Conference baseball tournament took place on Friday at Bowling Green Ballpark.
In the first game of the day, top-seeded Cumberlands (Ky.) defeated No. 4 seed Lindsey Wilson 9-6. No. 2 seed Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) got past third-seeded Georgetown (Ky.) 4-1. In the first consolation game, sixth-seeded Thomas More (Ky.) defeated Lindsey Wilson 7-3 and Georgetown beat fifth-seeded Bethel (Tenn.) 5-2.
Cumberlands and Freed-Hardeman get the action started on Saturday at 10 a.m. CT in the winner’s bracket final. Georgetown will take on Thomas More at 2 p.m. CT with the winner facing the Cumberlands/Freed-Hardeman loser at 6 p.m. CT in the consolation final.
Cumberlands vs. Lindsey Wilson

The Patriots (44-6) struck first with a pair of runs in the first inning. Ray Villanueva led off the inning with a triple and then scored on Over Torres’ doubles to right field. Cumberlands increased its lead to 2-0 on a Candido Encarnacion sacrifice fly. The Patriots increased their lead to 6-0 in the second inning on a Bryan Leef grand slam.
Cumberlands added two more in the fourth to increase its lead to 8-0. Lindsey Wilson (23-22) got on the board in the top of the fifth on a bases-loaded walk to make it an 8-1 game. The Patriots increased their lead to 9-1 in their half of the fifth scoring on an error by the Lindsey Wilson shortstop.
Lindsey Wilson added a run in the sixth when Nico Martinez drove in Seth Price on an RBI-single. After a ground out to begin the top of the eighth, the Blue Raiders then loaded the bases on a walk and two hit batters. A balk allowed a run to score to make it a 9-3 game. Ty Menrath then cut the Cumberlands lead to 9-5 on a two-RBI single to right field.
Price reached in the top of the ninth on an error and then scored on a Henry Paulino double to make it 9-6. After a walk brought the tying-run to the plate, Garrett Vathroder came in and forced a double play to secure the victory for the Patriots.
Freed-Hardeman vs. Georgetown

Zach Sanders led off the bottom of the first for the Lions (25-21) with a double and then advanced to third on a Will McCall single. Beau Simpson hit a sacrifice fly scoring Sanders and giving Freed-Hardeman a 1-0 lead. Von Watson gave the Lions a 2-0 lead on a double to right field. Freed-Hardeman increased its lead to 3-0 in the inning scoring off a wild pitch.
The Lions increased their lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the third. After the first two batters were retired in the inning, a dropped third strike allowed Freed-Hardeman to get a runner on. Watson then drove in the run on a single up the middle. Georgetown scored its only run of the game on a Brandon Krennrich leadoff home run in the top of the eighth.
Thomas More vs. Lindsey Wilson

The Blue Raiders (23-23) struck first in the bottom of the first. Menrath led off the inning reaching on an error. After a strike out, Derek Zavala reached on an infield single before Price hit a three-run home run. Thomas More (25-27) scored a run in the top of the second to make it 3-1.
Thomas More took control in the sixth inning scoring five runs on six hits. Bailey Martin hit an RBI-double to make it 3-2. In the next at-bat, Derek Atwood tied the game on a single to and Jacob Caruso gave the Saints a 4-3 lead with an RBI-single. The Saints would add two more in the inning to lead 6-3. Atwood gave the Saints a 7-3 lead with a solo home run in the top of the ninth.
Georgetown vs. Bethel

Bethel (20-19) got on the board first in the second inning on a two-run home run by Ruber Medina. The Tigers (34-17) tied the game in the fourth inning on a Dashon Moore two-run home run.
Georgetown jumped out in front in the fifth inning scoring a pair of runs. After a single and a walk, Nicholas Dilorenzo drove in a pair of runs on a single through the left side give the Tigers a 4-2 lead. The Tigers increased their lead to 5-2 on a Shota Usuda RBI-single in the eighth inning.
