NEW DELHI: Samsung unveiled its first 200MP smartphone sensor in September this year. Now, it appears that a smartphone maker is all set to launch the first 200MP camera smartphone. The Lenovo-owned smartphone maker is tipped to make a smartphone using the Samsung sensor. The leak also suggests that a smartphone with a 200MP camera may launch in the first half of 2022. Apart from Motorola, another Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is also planning to launch a 200MP camera smartphone next year. On the other hand, we will get to see a Samsung smartphone with a 200MP camera in 2023.
According to known tipster Ice Universe, Motorola will bring the first smartphone with a 200MP camera. The company will be followed by Xiaomi, who is expected to launch a 200MP camera smartphone in the second half of 2022. However, none of the smartphone makers have yet revealed any details about the smartphone launches.
Samsung ISOCELL HP1 is the industry’s first 200MP image sensor with 0.64μm pixels and dynamic pixel binning technology. The new 200MP ISOCELL HP1 features a native pixel size of 0.64μm and has a 1/1.22-inch sensor size. The company claims that the sensor brings ultra high resolution in a compact package that fits easily into modern handheld devices.
The sensor features an all-new ChameleonCell technology, a pixel-binning technology that uses 2×2 or 4×4 or full pixel layout depending on environment lighting. In 2×2, the sensor offers 50MP pixel binned photos with 1.28µm pixels. In 4×4 mode, the sensor offers 12.4MP images with 2.65μm pixel size.
The ISOCELL HP1 can also record 8K resolution videos at 30 frames-per-second (fps) with minimum loss in the field of view.
Meanwhile, Motorola is said to be working on the Moto Edge X smartphone. This upcoming Motorola smartphone is expected to feature a 60MP OmniVision OV60A 0.61μm selfie camera sensor. The smartphone is said to sport a 50-megapixel OmniVision OV50A 1/1.55-inch primary camera at the back.
