Mid-South Conference Announces Football Players of the Week

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. –  Lindsey Wilson’s (Ky.) Will McDonald and Ian Sauter and Cumberland’s (Tenn.) Trevor Griffin are the Mid-South Conference Football Players of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday.

MSC Bluegrass Defensive Player of the Week

Trevor Griffin – Cumberland (Tenn.) – So. – Defensive Back – Eagleville, Tenn.

• Griffin recorded four tackles and forced two turnovers in Cumberland’s 34-7 victory over Point (Ga.).
• He intercepted a pass and returned it to the Point eight-yard line to set up the Cumberland offense.
• Griffin also forced a fumble with Point driving in the red zone to keep the Skyhawks off the scoreboard.
• He earns weekly honors for the first time this season and in his career.

MSC Bluegrass Offensive Player of the Week

Will McDonald – Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) – Jr. – Quarterback – Livingston, Tenn.

• McDonald completed 8-of-10 passes for 185 yards and four touchdowns in Lindsey Wilson’s 57-6 win over St. Andrews (N.C.).
• All four of his touchdowns came in the first half.
• McDonald’s touchdowns tallied 12, 19, 27 and 32 yards.
• He earns weekly honors for the fist time this season and in his career.

MSC Bluegrass Special Teams Player of the Week

Ian Sauter – Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) – Jr. – Kicker/Punter – Knoxville, Tenn.

• Sauter was a perfect 7-for-7 on PATs in the Blue Raiders victory over St. Andrews.
• He averaged 62.9 yards per kick on nine kickoffs and recorded five touchbacks.
• Sauter earns his first weekly honor this season and sixth of his career.
