Microsoft has a warning for Internet Explorer users – Times of India

0
It may have become the butt of all jokes but Internet Explorer is still around. Counting days and on its last legs but yes Microsoft’s once-popular browser Internet Explorer exists. Microsoft has officially announced that it will completely shut down any sort of support for Internet Explorer in 2023. Yet, there are many businesses that reportedly still rely on Internet Explorer as their primary browser.
End of the days for Internet Explorer
Microsoft has officially revealed that the out-of-support Internet Explorer 11 (IE11) desktop application is scheduled to be permanently disabled on some versions of Windows 10 devices on February 14, 2023, “through a Microsoft Edge update, not a Windows update as previously communicated”, said Microsoft in a post.
The company further said that the remaining devices that have not already been redirected from IE11 to Microsoft Edge are scheduled to be redirected with the Microsoft Edge update scheduled for February 14, 2023. “The change to use Microsoft Edge update to disable IE is intended to provide a better user experience and help organisations transition their last remaining IE11 users to Microsoft Edge,” said Microsoft
Microsoft further said that organisations that have already transitioned from IE11 to Microsoft Edge with IE mode will not be impacted when the IE11 desktop application is scheduled to be permanently disabled on February 14, 2023. However, if any organisation “still has dependencies on IE11, you must take steps now to complete your transition before February 14, 2023, or risk business disruption at scale when users lose access to IE11-dependent applications,” said Microsoft in the blog post.
In case anyone is unaware, Microsoft stopped supporting IE11 browser since June 15 this year.
