A chipset is responsible for the smartphone’s performance which makes it a prominent component of the device. Still, there are a limited number of chipmakers that compete with each other. The two main manufacturers are Qualcomm and MediaTek. In recent news, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 898 SoC is said to be on the way while MediaTek’s Dimensity 2000 is also making headlines.

Gone are the days when MediaTek chipsets were used only in entry-level and budget phones. With the launch of Dimensity 1200, the brand has gained new heights and powered plenty of mid-range and flagship-like smartphones. Thus, this has been able to nip at the heels of the Snapdragon counterpart and gobble up a portion of the market, which would otherwise be gone to Qualcomm.

The latest leak suggests that MediaTek is working on a new premium processor named Dimensity 2000. The chipset is said to be based on a 4nm process architecture. The CPU structure containing a Cortex-X2, 3x Cortex A710, and 4x Cortex A510 cores, along with 1MB L2 cache, 8MB L3 cache, and 6MB LLC. So, the company doesn’t seem to be holding back on cache either.

The source also expects it to be equipped with smartphones worth INR 57,000 or above. It is said to bear the same level of CPU as Snapdragon 898.

As soon as the leaks about Snapdragon 898 and Dimensity 1200 have hit the market, it, but obvious, gives a reason for the comparison between the two. Rumors suggests that Snapdragon 898 processor is also manufactured on a 4nm process with 1+3+2+2 quad cluster technology. It may include a super core Kryo 780 based on Cortex X2, three Cortex-710 Kryo 780, two Cortex 510 Kryo 780, and two Cortex A510 Kryo 780.
