New Delhi: Max Hospital in South Delhi’s Panchsheel Park region has unveiled its Max Institute of Eye Care (MIEC). The main aim of launching this premier centre is to cater to the needs of local residents and provide access to best-in-class technology and treatment by introducing competitive pricing. Doctors report an increase in the number of patients with eye-related ailments since COVID-19 pandemic.

Housing over 20 consultation/ examination chambers, dedicated state-of-the-art advanced modular operation theatres that are run by a team of 16 super-specialists, MIEC will be a centre providing a gambit of eye-care services in a hospital setup. Under the able guidance of Dr Sanjay Dhawan, Senior Director and Head – Opthalmology, Max Institute of Eye Care, the centre will cater to services ranging from disorders of the retina, cataract, glaucoma refractive surgery, cornea disease/disorder, paediatric and neurophthalmology, ophthalmic plastic services, eye cancer, among several other under one roof.

“We have seen a significant increase in patients complaining about eye-related disorders in the post COVID recovery period as well as increased screen time. Our goal is to deliver quality and technology driven eye care in the National Capital Region. The team is trained in performing minimally invasive cataract surgeries, LASIK, Femtosecond laser surgeries, amongst other high end procedures. The team is efficient to carry out these procedures in a daycare set up which ensures that the patient has minimised hospital stay,” said Dr Dhawan.

The eye centre is well equipped with technologies, including phacoemulsification, blade-free cataract surgery, laser surgery for spectacle removal, or implantable contact lenses to name a few.
