Maruti Suzuki unveils the new Grand Vitara SUV with hybrid powertrains; Know more – Smartprix
Maruti has finally launched an all-new Grand Vitara SUV globally on July 20 with the event hosted in India. The new Maruti Grand Vitara is based on the Suzuki Global C platform and comes with an AllGrip all-wheel drive system to offer different drive modes. The company is eyeing to strengthen its SUV portfolio in the country with the launch of the Grand Vitara.
Since the new mid-size SUV is a part of a strategic partnership between Maruti and Toyota, it gets major underpinnings similar to the latter’s Urban Cruiser HyRyder which was launched on July 1. Still, the new Grand Vitara distinguishes itself in exterior and interior features, so let’s find them all.
Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara features
The new Grand Vitara sports hi-gloss black and dark chrome imposing grilles on the front. It has LED DRLS integrated with turn-type headlamps and features sweeping 3D LED tail lamps on the rear.
The Grand Vitara taunts a dual-tone interior design scheme with stitched layered panels and door trims. It offers ambient lighting and rich use of faux leather on the door and upholstery. It gets an infotainment system, a 7.1-inch driver digital cluster, a head-up display, ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof – first from Maruti Suzuki, a 360-degree view camera, and a wireless charging pad. It supports Smart Play Pro+ and Suzuki Connect for smart connection and control.
Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara arrives with a host of safety measures as standard for all of its variants. It includes six airbags, three-point ELR seat belts, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), hill hold assist, and rear disc brakes.

The Grand Vitara offers two powertrains – a 1.5L mild-hybrid and a 1.5L strong hybrid unit. The mild hybrid engine is mated to a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. It generates 100bhp and 135Nm of total output. The strong hybrid variant provides a combined power of 115 bhp for the engine and electric powertrain. It is mated with e-CVT automatic transmission.
The Grand Vitara has now become the second SUV in the segment to offer an all-wheel drive system after Toyota HyRyder. Suzuki’s AllGrip technology offers four drive modes with – EV, Eco, Power, and Normal. The new Grand Vitara is claimed to provide a fuel efficiency of 27.97kmpl.
Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Price and Availability
The company has not yet revealed the pricing of the new Grand Vitara, though it is accepting pre-orders. Customers can explore and book the new Grand Vitara through Maruti’s newly launched virtual and Metaverse platform – NEXAVerse. The booking amount is Rs 11,000.
