MARKET LIVE: Sensex gains 200 pts, Nifty at record high; IT index falls 3%
Live market update: The Nifty50 hit record high levels in early trade on Monday, reversing losses clocked in early morning session. The 50-pack index was trading 68 points higher at 17,962 after touching a new intraday peak of 17,981. Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex rose over 200 points to 60,262.
Shares of Reliance Industries came off the day’s high, but were still up 1 per cent on the back of the acquisition of the entire stake in REC Solar Holdings. The stock of Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC made a flat stock market debut, trading at Rs 712 per share.
That said, among sectoral indices, barring Nifty IT (down 3 per cent) all indices were in the green. About 1936 shares have advanced, 949 shares declined, and 132 shares are unchanged.
