Bengaluru: Manipal hospitals has entered into a long term agreement with Fujifilm India, to leverage the latter’s digital technology for storing sensitive medical documents and images. Under the agreement, Manipal hospitals will be provided with a large-scale Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), powered by FujifilmIndia, which will eliminate the need for manually storing, retrieving, and sending sensitive information, films, and reports.
The next-generation system will enable the storage of medical documents and images in secure off-site servers while the PACS software will ensure that such sensitive medical data can be accessed via mobile devices and workstations from anywhere in the world. The deployment will cover 23 hospitals and 45 teleradiology facilities under the umbrella of Manipal Health Enterprises across the country.
With a modular design, expandable to all future centres of Manipal Hospitals, the Radiology Information System (RIS) PACS, which has been developed as a part of the engagement, is now available for radiology and cardiology specialities. It is scalable to more clinical specialities and covers three million studies per year currently.
Commenting on the partnership, Dilip Jose, MD and CEO, Manipal Hospitals, said, “The partnership will further add value to our existing diagnostic portfolio and treatment outcomes. The interoperability that this solution offers will accelerate our progress toward digitisation across our network of hospitals.”
The RIS PACS will provide the many benefits to patients including, compliance through quick access to medical images from any Manipal hospital across India, digital access to reports as and when required, and diagnosis from the choice of radiologist and cardiologist sitting anywhere in the country.
Speaking on the collaboration, Koji Wada, Managing Director, Fujifilm India, said, “Through this association, we aim to provide superior technological medical facilities that can help save lives and encourage patients to become more engaged in their personal care.”
