NEW DELHI: Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United have been paired with Spanish side Real Betis in the Europa League round of 16. The fixtures were announced on Friday which also see Premier League leaders Arsenal drawing Portuguese outfit Sporting.
United will host the first leg at Old Trafford on March 9.
Earlier, United edged Barcelona 2-1 at Old Trafford, advancing 4-3 on aggregate to remain in the hunt for four trophies this season.
The English side is looking to secure their first trophy since their 2017 Europa League triumph under Jose Mourinho, with the Portuguese’s current side AS Roma pitted against Real Sociedad in this season’s last 16.
On the other hand, Arsenal sailed through the Europa League group stages, winning five of their six group matches.
Arsenal will next face Sporting with the first leg scheduled to be played in Portugal.
Serie A giants Juventus progressed through the playoffs at Nantes’ expense thanks to a hat-trick from Argentine forward Angel Di Maria in the second leg in France, and will face Germany’s Freiburg next.
