Man Eats Homemade Paratha With Mother At Airport, Slams ‘Overpriced’ Airport Food
Air travel is considered the most convenient form of transportation. It provides a level of comfort that other forms of transportation may not offer. While travelling by air has certainly become more accessible for the salaried class, we cannot ignore the unspoken code of conduct that is expected to be followed at airports. One of them being, buying overpriced airport food despite its average quality. Recently, a man took to Twitter to raise this topic and also encouraged people to normalise eating homemade food at airports.

Twitter user Madhur Singh took to the micro-blogging platform to speak up against the heavily priced food sold at airports. In the video that he shared, we can see him sitting with his mother in the boarding area of an airport, and enjoying homemade paratha with achaar. Singh tweeted, “Travelling by flight has become easier for the middle class but the societal pressure of buying 400 worth dosa and 100 worth water bottle is still too damn high. My mom packed aalu paratha for our journey to Goa and we ate them at the airport, with nimbu ka achaar.” Check out his tweet here:

Describing the reactions of other passengers, he wrote, “Some people looked at us, oddly, but hey, they don’t matter and we don’t care.” He further added, “Jitni pocket allow kare utna kharcho. Jo taste pasand ho wo khaao. Society to pata nahi kya kya sochti hai. Sochne do. Tum mast apni life apne style se jiyo (Spend as much as your pocket allows. Eat whatever taste you like. Don’t know what society thinks. Let me think. You live your life in your own style).”
This post in no time grabbed attention on the internet, with people supporting Singh’s willingness to speak up against this issue. One person wrote, “You are right. And I never realised that middle-class people are still so conscious about status. I hate airport food. Whenever I’d pack my lunch/dinner box, I do. And that is something to be proud of that my mom/wife cares enough to pack my food.”
Another person commented, “Yes we ALWAYS pack aalu paratha for airports. And have it before boarding the flight. And I don’t shy away from accepting it.”
A third comment read, “This is perfect. I do this all the time on my business trips. It’s healthy that way.”
“Actually love it, agar khana garam rahe to isse best kya ho sakta hai (If the food remains hot then what can be better than this) Ghar ka khana (Home food) over anything while travelling,” added another.
