Major League Cricket unveils championship trophy in Dallas – Times of India
Texas Super Kings take on the Los Angeles Knight Riders in the tournament opener at Grand Prairie Stadium on Thursday.
The captains of the six franchises also assembled on the eve of season’s first game, posing with the glittering silverware.
Texas skipper Faf du Plessis lauded the ‘impressive’ work that has gone into getting the Grand Prairie Stadium ready the tournament.
“I see myself, in 10 or 15 years, coming into American sports and you can see the American feel watching the game of cricket which is unique to anywhere else in the world,” du Plessis said.
“Based on how much cricket has been played here, it will be high quality with all these international players feeding information to the youngsters – it will grow from strength to strength,” said Los Angeles Knight Riders Captain Sunil Narine.
“We are blown away about the amount of people that turned up. Having the opportunity to speak to young cricketers was brilliant,” said San Francisco Unicorns Captain Aaron Finch.
The inaugural season of Major League Cricket will run from July 13 to 30 and will have a total of 15 leagues games followed by the knockouts.
