Mahesh Bhatt on Alia-Ranbir pregnancy news: There has never been a child like the one that’s coming, kid will have genes of extraordinary parents

Mahesh Bhatt is all set to take the most challenging role of his life, and that is the role of a grandfather. Overwhelmed with the news of Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt’s pregnancy, the filmmaker says the kid will come with “extraordinary” genes of talented parents.

“This is the most challenging role, which life is asking me to play, which is the role of a grandfather…It is a magical moment for the whole family. First of all, Alia has been a magical child since the beginning. She has amazed me with her extraordinary talent, which has displayed to herself and the world, and then the marriage with Ranbir, was a great, high moment, and I love the boy. He is an amazing kid,” Mahesh tells us.

Ever since the news of the arrival of the baby surfaced, the filmmaker has been getting messages saying he will be “the coolest granddaddy on this planet”, which Mahesh reveals everyone around him agrees to.

Talking about Alia and Ranbir entering the new phase of their film, the filmmaker says, “There’s another universe which is going to descend in our backyard and in our life. It is quite astounding news. I am happy for Alia and Ranbir, and the entire clan. I am certain that the child which is going to be born will have the genetics of these two extraordinary children — Ranbir and Alia”.

According to Mahesh, nothing can prepare Alia and Ranbir for the “magical ride” to parenthood, which comes with its share of bumps and joys.

“They will have to grope, fumble and stumble and find their own ways to deal with the kid. Because this is far more… This is real life, not reel life. When real life steps into your organised life, it brings it magic, wilderness and its challenges. A new story is going to emerge with the arrival of this child,” exclaims the 73-year-old.

Ask him if he is ready with the book of wisdom to give to the parents-to-be as a father, Mahesh says nothing can prepare them, saying they will have to experience and learn on the way as they explore this new chapter of their life.

“I have never been a person who has given advice to any of my children. The child (Alia and Ranbir’s child) will bring several lessons to teach the parents. They will have to learn, like any other normal parent as they experience the new phase,” he says, adding, “You can’t prepare your children for an extraordinary magical moment like this”.

However, he is certain about one thing. “The child, who will be born… There has never been a child like the one which is coming soon, and never will there be a child. Every child that is born is unique and unrepeatable. That’s why I say that it’s going to be a universe in itself,” he concludes.

After dating for several years, Alia and Ranbir got married in April 2022 at Ranbir’s Mumbai home Vastu, in the presence of their close friends and family members.
