Apple has announced a new accessory for the iPhone 12 series in India. The company has launched the new MagSafe Battery pack — an accessory which comes in the form of a wireless battery pack.

MagSafe Battery Pack: Price and availability

The MagSafe Battery Pack will be available on Apple Online Store. However, on the Apple Online Store India the accessory is listed as “currently unavailable.” The MagSafe Battery Pack has been priced at Rs 10,900. In the US, the accessory is set to go on sale from July 19.

MagSafe Battery Pack: How it works

Like the MagSafe charger, the MagSafe battery pack attaches magnetically to the back of the iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. It is meant to give users additional battery in times of need. The battery pack can be charged with the Lightning cable that comes with the iPhone. It can pass through charge to the attached iPhone as it charges. On its website, Apple says, “The MagSafe Battery Pack can charge even faster when coupled with a 27W or higher charger, like those that ship with MacBook. And when you’re in need of a wireless charger, just plug in a Lightning cable for up to 15W of wireless charging.” Apple recommends using a 20W or higher charger with the battery pack.
Apple also notes that attaching the MagSafe Battery Pack is quite easy . Its compact, intuitive design makes on-the-go charging easy, as per Apple. Also, do note that if you end up buying the MagSafe Battery Pack, Apple makes it clear that you won’t get the lightning cable nor you will get the charging adapter.
Till now, third-party wireless battery packs were available in the market. Apple does sell other MagSafe accessories like a case among others. The MagSafe charger itself costs around Rs 4,500 and was introduced by Apple in October 2020.
