Madhya Pradesh: Five state govt hospitals get NQAS certification

Indore: Five government hospitals in Madhya Pradesh have been awarded National Quality Assurance Standards certification under LaQshya programme- a labour and quality improvement initiative while certification for one has been renewed.

The five facilities include Maharaja Tukojirao Holkar (MTH) hospital, District hospital Chhatarpur, Sultania Janana Hospital Bhopal and a hospital of NSCB Medical College Jabalpur. Certification of district hospital Khandwa has been renewed.

MTH and Sultania Janana Hospital, Bhopal have been awarded gold certification. The rest of the facilities have been awarded conditional certificates valid for a year and must undergo an assessment within a year.

NHM MP director Priyanka Das said, “The NQAS certification to the five facilities under LaQshya signifies that the clinical protocols are followed in accordance with national standards and norms.”

“It shows the quality maternal services in labour room and maternal wards in these certified facilities,” said Das.

She added, “These facilities are given grant by NHM for their upgrade though Union government doesn’t provide an my such incentives directly to them.”

The score list of facilities showed that Sultania Janana Hospital had an overall score of 97% in the assessment with 100% marks on three areas of concerns-Service Provision, Patient’s rights and Outcome ranging to over dozen standard parameters.

MTH scored 82% overall on different standards. The scores ranged from 71% to 91% on different areas of concern parameter with lowest being in quality management.

MGM dean Dr Sanjay Dixit said, “There are 46 parameters on which assessment was done. The team suggested Quality circles- a team for regular monthly assessment of infection control, laundry, cleaning, hygiene, and other things.”
