Towards the end of the video, Karan Johar told Madhuri Dixit about the ‘buzz’ on social media about season two of The Fame Game. She replied, “You know Javed saab called me up. He saw the whole season, he binged watched it. He says, ‘Bhai batao season 2 kab araha hai (Tell me when is season two coming out)?’, you know in the tone he talks in. He said he loved it and I was so glad. He’s someone I really look up to. He called me out of the blue. It was so wonderful.”
Madhuri made her debut on the digital platform with The Fame Game alongside actor Sanjay Kapoor. In the eight-episode series, Madhuri played a movie star Anamika Anand who suddenly goes missing. Filmmaker Sri Rao created the show.
The series, currently streaming on Netflix, also stars Manav Kaul, Lakshvir Saran, Suhasini Muley, and Muskkaan Jaferi. The series is directed by filmmakers Bejoy Nambiar and Karishma Kohli, while the Hindi dialogues have been written by Amita Vyas, Akshat Ghildial, and Shreya Bhattacharya.
Recently, speaking with news agency PTI, Sri Rao spoke about Madhuri, “The trigger point for me was Madhuri, wanting to create a story and character for her that would do justice to her talent as an actress. When I was approached by Netflix to create a series for them, I knew I wanted it to be with Madhuri. Then I tried to come up with an idea that would be befitting to her talent, that is all how it started. I have been a huge Madhuri fan.”
He had also said, “I wanted to mount the series on her because she has done some brilliant roles, from the huge blockbusters like Devdas, Hum Aapke Hai Koun to what I consider the deeper cuts, like Mrityudand or Lajja which I really love. What I wanted to do was to create one story, one role, that could bring together all the different shades of Madhuri Dixit. To have her go through ups and downs, anger and sadness, love and romance, strength and vulnerabilities in one character was my aim.”
