MacBook Air M2 vs MacBook Pro M2: Geekbench Scores compared
As per the screenshots shared, the MacBook Air M2 scored 1899 points in single-core and 8965 points in multi-core tests. The MacBook Pro M2, on the other hand, scored a 1,919 single-core score and 8,928 multi-core score. Comparing the scores, it is clearly evident that the MacBook Air M2 will offer almost similar performance as the Pro version considering both the laptops are powered by the same processor.
We have already done a detailed comparison between the two laptops ( read here). However, the major difference between the Air and Pro is in terms of cooling system. The MacBook Pro features an active cooling system, which MacBook Air does not. This means that technically, the MacBook Pro should deliver better performance in resource-intensive tasks in the long run.
The Apple M2 certainly brings some added performance benefits over the previous-generation M1 chip. The company claims that the M2 chip offers 18% faster CPU performance and around 35% faster GPU. Apart from this, it also claims to offer 40% faster Neural Engine over its predecessor.
In terms of design, the MacBook Air M2 has received the biggest design overhaul since its launch. The laptop now features a more uniform rounded corner design with thinner bezels and a notch on the display which houses a 1080p webcam.
