Bhindi, also known as okra, is a staple dish in many Indian households. It is one of those vegetables that are available all year round and can be used to make countless dishes. While some people find comfort in eating this veggie, others simply run away whenever someone mentions the word ‘bhindi’. If you fall into the former category, you’ve probably tried the ever-popular kurkuri bhindi. This crispy version of regular bhindi tastes quite incredible and has a separate fan base altogether. But since it’s deep-fried, most people avoid eating it as it can lead to several health issues. If you want to enjoy kurkuri bhindi without the guilt of consuming too many calories, you’re in the right place. Here we bring you an air-fryer version of kurkuri bhindi that tastes as good as the original one.

Is Kurkuri Bhindi Healthy?

Kurkuri bhindi is typically made using the process of deep-frying. This may give you that crispy texture, but the fact that it is fried in oil makes it unhealthy and high in calories. It can also lead to several health issues, especially for people who struggle with maintaining cholesterol levels. So, if you want to relish this vegetable without compromising your health, we suggest you stick to healthier cooking options such as air-frying and baking.

How To Make Kurkuri Bhindi In Air Fryer | Kurkuri Bhindi Recipe

First, wash the bhindi nicely and pat it dry. Slit them from the centre to form thin shards, and preheat the air fryer. Add besan (gram flour), corn flour, red chilli powder, ginger-garlic paste, jeera, salt, oil, and lemon juice in a bowl and mix well to make a smooth paste.
Now, add the slit bhindi to this bowl and make sure it’s well coated with the paste. Brush some oil on the air fryer basket and spread the bhindi all over it. Do not overcrowd the basket. Bake the bhindi at 170 degrees C for 10 minutes. You may also toss them in between.
Once done, brush some more oil over them and bake for another 5 minutes at 190 degrees C until they turn crispy and golden brown. Transfer to a bowl, sprinkle with chaat masala, and pair it with your roti, paratha, or rice.
