Last seen in Tabbar, Gagan Arora talks to us about his upcoming project with Madhuri Dixit
Tabbar has got positive feedback. What is the best compliment that you have received for the series?
Someone wrote to me on social media that because of this series he started a communication chain with his parents and become vocal. Also, in one of the reviews, they have actually referred to me as a talent to look out for. So, overall, it is a very humbling experience.
When you look back, what has been the toughest part?
First of all, this genre is different. Earlier, I had done comedy series. So, from approaching the role to getting prepared – it took a lot of effort to know my role better.
What is your focus now as an actor?
I want to shift my focus from social media because I have been getting positive feedback from the industry and fans. My focus is to pick up a role which I would like to watch as an audience.
What about working in films?
I used to feel that 70 mm screen was my ultimate destination but the pandemic has changed my thought process and made me believe that nothing is permanent. Regardless of the platform, I am looking for a great script.
Tell us about your next project.
It’s a web series on Netflix starring Madhuri Dixit titled Finding Anamika. She is playing a superstar in it and I am an obsessed fan of hers.
How did your family support you in your career?
Initially, they were scared as I am the only actor in the family. My father has a stable business and he wanted me to join him. My elder brother has been rock solid support to me and held my hands when I was losing hope.
What excites you in the world of performance?
I guess I am still in awe of the process of acting. I feel I am living a dream of a middle-class boy. The entire experience of an actor is very creatively satisfying and playing a new character in every new project is a great takeaway.
Being a Delhi boy, how has been life in Mumbai for you?
I must say Mumbai is a city of opportunities. The city is extremely professional and gives you the best experience as an actor.
Who has been your inspiration within the industry?
I adored Irrfan Khan. I have learnt a lot by simply watching him on big screen. He made acting look effortless.
How do you destress yourself?
My family keeps me grounded and also showers me with their unconditional love and support. It’s been six years of staying away from them but whenever I get some time off, I run up to them and spend quality time.
