KTM electric scooter to get sporty DNA
- The KTM electric scooter which was spotted reveals a compact scooter-style look and also wears KTM’s sporty design language.
- This EV looks different from the concept which was showcased earlier and looks less aggressive. The panels also reveal a toned-down design language with smoother lines on the body panels.
- The EV is currently at an early developmental stage and many components have likely been 3D printed for the testing phase.
- The KTM electric scooter gets a central spine and does not have a flat floorboard. The battery pack is also likely to have been mounted on the floorboard.
- Machined Aluminium components such as the swing arm and footstep mountings can be identified to have the KTM identity that can be seen in the brand’s other offerings.
- The list of mechanical components which are visible from the spy shots also reveals the presence of alloy wheels, disc brakes on both ends, aluminium grab handles, a front windscreen and an LED lighting set-up.
- The KTM electric scooter also gets flat seats which could be a feature to aid comfort for riders and pillions.
- The KTM electric scooter could be using an 8kW electric motor which is expected to be jointly developed with Indian two-wheeler manufacturer Bajaj. The EV is expected to have a top speed of 100kmph.
- The platform is also rumoured to be a derivative of the Bajaj Chetak platform and the KTM electric scooter is likely to share some components with the Chetak if launched in India.
- The exact battery motor combination specifications are still unclear and there’s no word on the expected pricing as of now either.
The KTM electric scooter is part of the project EMotion which will yield two electric scooters – a small power scooter and a light power scooter. The smaller scooter will be powered by a 4kW motor and will have a top speed of 45kmph. The electric scooter could also spawn another EV under the Husqvarna lineup.
