Jungle Cruise arrives on Disney+: How much it costs to watch at home – not in cinemas

Jungle Cruise looks set to become one of the biggest blockbusters of the summer. The fantasy adventure film, which stars Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Emily Blunt, arrived in cinemas nationwide at the end of last week. However, for those who don’t fancy a trip to the local multiplex, Disney is also offering Jungle Cruise via its video on-demand service, Disney+.

Disney+ is a video on-demand service to rival the likes of Netflix and Prime Video. For £7.99 a month, subscribers gain access to existing boxsets as well as new exclusives. Titles from Pixar Studios, the complete Star Wars saga and Marvel Cinematic Universe are available, as well as shows and films from National Geographic and Disney Animation. Earlier this year, Disney introduced Star, which houses is used to house shows for more mature audiences, like Desperate Housewives, Prison Break, Grey’s Anatomy, 24, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Family Guy, as well as films like The Favourite, Die Hard 2, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

Unfortunately, Jungle Cruise is not included in your £7.99 monthly subscription. While it will eventually become part of the on-demand catalogue at no extra cost, that will take some time. If you want to stream the blockbuster from the comfort of your own sofa while it’s still showing in cinemas across the globe, you’ll need to pay for the privilege.

Dubbed Disney+ Premiere Access, you’ll need to pay an extra £19.99 fee to unlock access to Jungle Cruise. However, once you’ve paid the upfront cost, Jungle Cruise will forever be available in Disney+ …for as long as you keep paying your monthly subscription.

Jungle Cruise has been a huge success for Disney+, with the family-friendly blockbuster taking $30 million (£21.5 million) in its opening weekend on the streaming service alone. That’s half of the film’s total Box Office takings. However, it’s still only a silver medalist when it comes to Disney+, with Black Widow – the latest Marvel action flick with Scarlett Johansson and Florence Pugh – taking an eye-watering $60 million (£43 million) from streaming fans alone.

Jungle Cruise will be available to download and watch offline on smartphones and tablets.

How to stream Jungle Cruise on Disney+

First off, you’ll need to be a Disney+ subscriber. Unfortunately, Disney has called time on its free trial period, so you’ll need to pay for at least one month at the current £7.99 rate. If you’re interested in checking out some of the other titles available on the streaming service – like The Mandalorian, WandaVision, or the latest Pixar film Luca – you’ll get a discount if you pay for 12-months upfront at £79.90.

Once you’re a bonafide subscriber, you only need to search for Jungle Cruise. Tap the “Unlock Now” button. Disney will charge the same payment method saved on your account. Once that’s authenticated – which shouldn’t take more than a few seconds – you’ll be good to go.
