Jio Bharat 4G feature phones to garner 100 million users in 2-3 years, analysts predict | 91mobiles.com
Jio Bharat 4G feature phones predicted to have 100 million users
Jio has partnered with other brands to launch 4G feature phones on the Jio Bharat platform. The first brand to join Jio’s mission is Karbonn, so more entry-level Jio Bharat phones can be developed.
“If RIL/Karbonn are able to scale up production of these phones, then we see the phone to have potential and could garner around 100 million users in the next 2-3 years. We find both VIL (Vodafone Idea) & Bharti (Airtel) feature phones users vulnerable and see upside risks to Jio net adds,” said BoFa securities in its research note (via ET)
Another analysis from Jefferies says that Reliance could gain around 60 to 65 million users with the Jio Bharat phone annually. This would also lead to around 55 million subscribers for Jio by March 2026.
The telco started beta trials for the first 1 million Jio Bharat phones from July 7th onwards. The trial run is being conducted in 6,500 tehsils in India. The phones come bundled with Jio Bharat plans starting at Rs 123 for 28 days. With this recharge plan, you get unlimited voice calls and 0.5/GB of data per day. There’s a Jio Bharat annual plan as well, and it’s priced at Rs 1,234. This plan offers 0.5/GB per day and unlimited voice calls.
