Jio Bharat Phone features

  • Jio is yet to reveal the specifications of its latest phone but it has announced key features about the device. For starters, the Jio Bharat phone looks like a regular feature phone with a tiny screen and physical keypad but it’s loaded with quite a lot of smart features.
  • You can make UPI payments with this phone through the JioPay app. You can also watch movies, TV shows and through the Jio Cinema app.
  • The Jio Bharat phone also comes with the JioSaavn app which gives you access to over 8 crore songs.
  • You also get other basic features such as FM radio and a torchlight on the Jio Bharat Phone.
  • Jio hasn’t revealed what OS the phone runs on so we don’t know if other apps like WhatsApp can be downloaded on it.

With the Jio Bharat phone, Reliance aims to empower the existing 250 million feature phone users with access to the internet. The telco also plans to expand this ‘Jio Bharat platform’ to other brands so that more entry-level 4G phones can be developed. The first brand to implement this is going to be Karbonn.

Jio said that it’s going to start beta trials for the first 1 million Jio Bharat phones from July 7th onwards. This is part of the company’s goal to upgrade existing 2G feature phone users. The trial run will be carried out in 6,500 tehsils in India.
