It’s a great time to be an actor, says Bhanu Uday Goswami
What kind of response are you receiving for your role in Bob Biswas?
It’s overwhelming and extremely encouraging response. It was a beautifully written role and that’s why it made such an impact.
Did you always want to be an actor?
It was a childhood aspiration which gained clarity when I did my first play. The sheer joy of performing a character became my passion and I decided to join the National School of Drama.
What kind of struggle have you faced in your journey so far?
Some people only like the destination whereas I enjoy the process too. It’s been 17 years and each piece of work has enhanced my perspective, my craft and my understanding of life. It’s made me the actor I am today.
How did theatre help you?
In theatre, your craft is paramount. There is no second take and as you rehearse the script, you get into deeper layers and understanding. It’s a beautiful and intense learning process. I am theatre’s child.
Any director on your wish list with whom you want to work?
It’s a long list. There is so much talent, and such great work happening. It’s just a wonderful time to be an actor.
What kind of roles and stories appeal to you?
Characters and stories which follow a journey, while exploring hidden aspects of human nature.
What are your upcoming projects?
Just signed a feature film and a web series on Amazon called Crash Course.
How will you sum up 2021 on the personal and professional front?
It’s been a life-changing year. Great opportunities, beautiful experiences and love of people! It’s the joy and happiness in my personal life that reflects in my work.
What’s your fitness mantra?
Fitness is not just physical. For me my spiritual practices by Sadhguru have been my mantra for years for my physical, mental and spiritual well-being.
