Sakariya, who made his India debut after shining for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, said his stint with the franchise helped him go through the “learning curve”. Sakariya had a decent debut season in the IPL and will want to show his mettle.
“One season of IPL with the Rajasthan Royals was a big opportunity and a learning curve for me. I want to thank all my teammates and the support staff at RR for all that I learned from them,” Sakariya shared the post on KOO on Monday.
“Forever grateful to them for the faith they showed in me. A special mention for Zubeen sir and Rommy sir for their constant support. It’s now time for a new chapter with the Delhi Capitals,” he added.
Sakariya played all 14 games for RR last season while taking 14 wickets at an average of 30.42. He had an economy rate of 8.19 and his best bowling figures were 3/31. Hailing from a village called Bhavnagar in Gujarat, Sakariya looked up to Sheldon Jackson, who gave him his first shoes to start training.
Sakariya was picked up by Delhi Capitals for Rs 4.2 crore on Day 2 of the IPL mega auction on Sunday. The star pacer will be in action for the Delhi-based franchise in a few weeks, as teams gear up for the blockbuster IPL 2022 season.
