Iphones: Apple improves QR scanning on iPhones with iOS 17, here’s how – Times of India
QR code scanning on iPhones
Apple allowed users to scan QR codes with their iPhone Camera app in iOS 11. Initially, the URL link that the QR code generated used to appear like a push notification at the top of the screen.
Later on, the company decided to redesign QR code scanning with iOS 13 as the implementation was confusing for some users. After Apple changed the design, the link appeared as a yellow button within the camera viewfinder.
This setup also created a problem as the button kept moving around in the viewfinder whenever the camera lens was in motion. Due to this, taping the button became even more difficult.
How iOS 17 will improve QR code scanning
With iOS 17, Apple has made a change that’ll resolve the QR code scanning issue. Now, whenever iPhone users (running iOS 17) scan a QR code, the link button will automatically appear at the bottom of the Camera interface.
This means that now users don’t have to chase the moving link around the viewfinder. Users will be able to tap the button from its fixed location which will be placed above the shutter button.
iOS 16 users also have a way to stop the button from constantly moving on their iPhones. As soon as users will move their camera away from the QR code so that the code isn’t visible on their screen, the bottom will drop to the bottom of the viewfinder and will stay there. Users won’t need to do this action to stop the button with iOS 17.
