iPhone lost in the sea for more than a year comes back in working condition – Times of India

Apple has achieved a new feat with its smartphones as an iPhone has returned to its owner after staying in the sea for over a year. According to a report by The Sun UK, a paddleboarder named Clare Atfield misplaced her iPhone at sea while she was out on her board in August 2021. The 39-year-old claims to have found her smartphone as it recently washed ashore over a year later and was in full working condition. Atfield mentioned that she dropped her Apple iPhone 8+ while it was placed inside a waterproof bag.
How was the iPhone found
As per the report, the smartphone washed up on a nearby beach this month. The lost iPhone 8+ was found by a dog walker named Bradley Cotton.

The waterproof bag which was found with the device had a medical card which had Atfield’s mother’s details. This helped the dog walker to track down Atfield and return her handset.
How was the iPhone lost
As per the report, Atfield mentioned that she started paddleboarding in April 2021 and always used to keep her phone around her neck. She also noted that she had been “paddleboarding quite far out to sea” and fell off her board.
She got back up on the paddleboard and kept going before realising that she has lost her phone in the sea.
Atfield was “shocked” when Bradley (who is also a phone shop worker) informed her that he had found her lost iPhone, the report added.

Atfield also mentioned that she never expected to see it again and couldn’t believe that the phone was still working after staying in the sea for more than 450 days.
Moreover, the back panel of the phone was greatly damaged so she thought that water would have got in.
