iPhone 15 Pro Max/Ultra tipped to come with periscope lens for 5-6x optical zoom
iPhone 15 Pro Max/ Ultra to feature periscope lens
According to the report, the Telephoto lens will incorporate periscope technology, enabling users to capture photos with up to 6x zoom using the rear camera without compromising image quality or clarity.
This technology uses the refraction of light to magnify images. Unlike traditional zoom lenses for DSLR cameras, the lens mechanics are built inside the smartphone rather than outside. The lenses in smartphones have become small enough to fit into a regular lens enclosure without occupying too much internal space.
The periscope lens technology will likely be available on the most expensive iPhone model for the next two generations of devices. This means that after the iPhone 15 Pro Max, the periscope lens will be limited to the iPhone 16 Pro Max next year, as per MacRumors.
Periscope lens in other smartphones
Several smartphone brands, including Samsung, Google, and OnePlus, have already incorporated this technology into their devices. Therefore, Apple will not be the first brand to introduce it. Periscope lens technology was first introduced by OPPO, and it was later featured on the 2019 Huawei P30 Pro, making it the first mainstream phone to have this technology. In India, the technology is already available on the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and its successor, the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
iPhone 15 Pro Max/Ultra price (expected)
Apple is reportedly contemplating raising the price of the iPhone 15 Pro Max/Ultra to $1,199, which is $100 more than the current price of the iPhone 14 Pro Max. But, as of now, we do not have official confirmation about the same. We will have to wait until the launch to know the exact price of the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro Max/ Ultra.
