iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max prices expected to be hiked by up to $200: here’s why

0

Well, there are two reasons as per Luke Lin, senior analyst at DigiTimes Research.

iPhone 15 Pro price rise

iPhone 14 Pro was launched in India at a starting price of Rs 1,29,900 ($999 in the US) for the base 128GB storage model. Now, it is being rumoured that the next-gen model could be $100 more expensive than its predecessor. The iPhone 15 Pro price could start at $1,099, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max price could launch at $1,299, or $200 pricier than the iPhone 14 Pro Max, as per the report.

iPhone 15 Pro price hike reasons

The report predicts the iPhone 15 Pro series pricing will be more than the predecessors for 2 reasons viz., build and camera. More specifically, the presence of a titanium chassis on both Pro models and a periscope camera on the iPhone 15 Pro Max, as rumoured earlier.

Titanium is considered to have a higher strength-to-weight ratio and better corrosion resistance compared to stainless steel. We have previously seen titanium on Apple watches and the titanium models are more expensive than the steel editions.

As for the periscope camera, it will be the first time for an iPhone although it has been part of many high-end Android phones for years. A periscope setup includes a mechanical assembly of lenses and a prism/mirror using which the iPhone could manage to zoom in on distant objects without losing image quality.

iPhone 15 Pro Max is speculated to get 5x to 6x optical zoom capability. Some other reports suggest even up to 10x zoom. So, that would be lossless zoomed-in output and the iPhone doesn’t have to get all that thicker either to house this setup.

Besides these two reasons, there are other potential attractions too, on the upcoming iPhones like an all-new Action Button, USB Type-C socket with high-bandwidth and faster charging speeds, and a more powerful A17 Bionic chipset.
