iPad backup: Different methods, things to keep in mind, steps and more – Times of India

Apple has a pretty capable backup system for all its devices – be it an iPhone, iPad, Watch or Mac. Now, taking a backup of an iPhone is a common process and most users keep iCloud backup enabled for automatic backup. However, not many users are aware that the iPad too can be backup completely via iCloud as well as a Mac or Windows PC.
So, if you are wondering how to take the complete backup of your iPad. Here’s our complete guide on it.
Different ways to back up your iPad
Essentially, there are three ways you can back up your iPad. The most common and widely used is the iCloud backup. Others methods are taking backups using Mac and Windows PC using iTunes.
Which backup method is better and when to use them
Now, all three backup methods do the same thing — backup all your data stored on the iPad. However, they have a different approach. For instance, the iCloud backup does not require additional devices and it happens right on the iPad. Also, the process is automatic so, manual effort is less compared to the other two options.
The Mac and PC backup methods are essentially similar. It’s just Mac’s Finder now detects the iPad as a regular device and offers all the necessary backup and restore options. In fact, it also gives users access to the apps and services installed on the iPad individually for manually transferring the files stored. Along with that, it has other tabs built right in such as Photos, Videos, Files, etc.
Windows PC users require to download and install iTunes on their devices to back up their iPad or transfer files to their Windows laptop.
Here’s how to backup an iPad using all three methods:

Turn on iCloud Backup.
iCloud automatically backs up your iPad daily when iPad is connected to power, locked, and connected to Wi-Fi.
If you want to back up your iPad using a cellular connection, then head to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup, then turn on or off Backup Over Cellular.
You can also perform a manual backup by tapping on the Back Up Now button.
