Soon after launching the 13th-generation Intel Core mobile processors, Intel has announced the 4th-generation Xeon Scalable processors, the Intel Xeon CPU Max series and the Intel Data Centre GPU Max series. According to the company, the new range of processors is designed to offer better performance, efficiency, security and AI capabilities.
As Intel’s most sustainable data centre processors, 4th-generation Xeon processors deliver customers a range of features for managing power and performance, making the optimal use of CPU resources to help achieve their sustainability goals.
In comparison to the previous generation, the 4th-generation Intel Xeon processors offer around 2.9x average performance per watt efficiency improved for targeted workloads when utilising a built-in accelerator, up to 70W power savings per CPU in optimised power mode and up to 66% lower TCO.
Additionally, the new Optimized Power Mode can deliver up to 20% socket power savings with a less than 5% performance impact for selected workloads.
Intel’s 4th Gen Xeon unlocks new levels of performance for inference and training across a wide breadth of AI workloads. The Xeon CPU Max Series expands on these capabilities for natural language processing that claims to bring a 20x speed-up on large language models.
