Instagram Stories: TikTok ‘copies’ this popular Instagram feature – Times of India

Instagram Stories have been one of the popular features on Instagram for years, and they allow users to share photos and videos that disappear after 24 hours. Now, TikTok has added a new feature to the platform — Texts Posts — which allows users to share text-based content with their followers, and customised with background colours, music, and stickers. This will let creators share their stories, poems, recipes, and other written content on TikTok – giving creators another way to express themselves and making it easier to create.

TikTok’s text posts are similar to Instagram Stories that also disappear after 24 hours, but they also have some unique features, such as the ability to have a longer character limit (up to 1,000 characters) and the ability to add music. Text posts offer a range of features that empower you to make your text-based content stand out, including, stickers, tags and hashtags, background colours, adding sound and draft and discard.
“At TikTok, we’re always looking to empower our creators and community with innovative tools that inspire self-expression,” TikTok wrote in a blog post. “Today we’re thrilled to announce the expansion of text posts on TikTok, a new format for creating text-based content that broadens options for creators to share their ideas and express their creativity. With text posts, we’re expanding the boundaries of content creation for everyone on TikTok, giving the written creativity we’ve seen in comments, captions, and videos a dedicated space to shine.”

Creating a Text Post
Upon entering the Camera page, users can choose from three options: photo, video, and text. By selecting the text, TikTok will direct users to the text creation page, where they can type out the content of their posts.
Enhancing Text Posts
After reaching the Post page, the app will show sound, tag a location, enable comments, and allow Duets, among other features.
