Instagram Reels download feature starts rolling out

Downloading Instagram Reels 

The Instagram Reels download feature is launching first in the US, and it’s expected to reach other countries soon. Only Reels shared by public accounts can be downloaded but Instagram still gives you the option to turn off downloading from your account settings. 

You can download Reels by tapping the airplane ‘share’ icon and selecting the download button. The videos will be downloaded to your camera roll, and you can then share it on other platforms. Any Reels downloaded will have the Instagram watermark and the username as well. This is similar to what TikTok has been doing for a long time which also caused the flooding of TikTok videos on other platforms including Instagram. 

Instagram has been on a roll lately with a new feature rolling out every other day. Just recently, it rolled out the ability to add music to your Instagram Notes. You can now add snippets of songs to your notes which your followers can listen to on the app.

The Meta-owned company is also planning to launch a new app that will directly compete with Twitter. It will be a text-based app where you will be able to post text updates just like tweets. But the app will be synced with your Instagram account so you’ll have your followers, account and privacy settings all transferred to the new app. The new Instagram app could be called ‘Threads’ and it’s expected to launch by this month.
