NEW DELHI: Instagram recently started testing the subscription feature. The new feature will enable creators to offer paid followers access to exclusive content. Presently, the Meta-owned photo sharing app is testing the feature in the US. Only 10 US creators have gained access to this new paid feature. Now a Twitter user has spotted the same subscription feature in India along with the pricing.
According to the screenshots shared by Twitter user Salman Memon, Instagram is giving the option to subscribe to select creator accounts. The subscription pricing is displayed in rupees. The social media app is offering three different pricing — Rs 89, Rs 440 and Rs 890 a month. Followers will pay a monthly fee to access subscriber-only content from creators they follow. Subscription pricing ranges from $0.99 per month to $99.99 per month.

The app will now show a purple badge placed next to the username. Along with this, the app will also show the details of what subscribers are entitled to such as subscribers-only stories, exclusive live videos and more. Presently, the creators in India cannot set up their account to receive paid subscription in India.
Meanwhile, Instagram is also reportedly testing Stories redesign with vertical scrolling in its app.
As noted by social media consultant Matt Navarra, some users located in Turkey have received an Instagram update that brings vertical scrolling to Stories.
While Stories from the same user can still be viewed by tapping the left or right side of the screen, jumping to the next user’s Stories requires a swipe down.
