India smart TV shipments up in 2022: What people bought, fastest-growing brands – Times of India

0

India’s smart TV shipments grew 28% YoY in 2022, according to a report. The growth is attributed to strong shipments during the festive season in the third quarter, along with multiple new launches, discounts and promotions, and the demand for bigger screen-size TVs in the lower price tier.
According to a report by Counterpoint’s IoT Service, Xiaomi led the market followed by Samsung and LG, despite all three experiencing a decline in shipments. Sony moved out of the top 5 brands with TCL announcing its entry into the list. OnePlus moved from fifth spot to fourth as it gained market share in 2022.
Xiaomi continues to lead the market
Xiaomi maintained its lead in the Indian smart TV shipments market in 2022 with an 11% share. The company grabbed a 17.5% share in 2021.
According to the report, the Mi TV 5A series and Redmi Smart TV series, especially the 32-inch model, were among the volume drivers for the brand.

Discounts on Samsung TVs drove shipments
Samsung settled on the second spot with a 10.2% market share. In 2022, Samsung launched new models in its T4000 series in 32-inch and 43-inch sizes. Samsung’s promotional events like Big TV Days and Big TV Festival help it register large shipment numbers.
LG 32-inch TVs a volume driver
At No. 3 was LG as it grabbed 8.5% market share in 2022. LG’s new models in the 32-inch size were its volume driver, Counterpoint Research said. The South Korean company launched premium QNED TVs in India.
OnePlus is one of the fastest-growing brands
OnePlus hopped from fifth spot to fourth in 2022 after growing 80% YoY and becoming one of the fastest-growing brands last year. It also captured the second position in the less than Rs 30,000 price segment. The Y1 and Y1S were among its bestsellers.

TCL enters the top 5 list
TCL became the fifth brand to feature in the top 5 list due to the launch of new models, including QLED TVs, across different price segments.
Sony preferred in the premium segment
Sony was among the preferred brands in the premium segment and ranked third in the premium segment (above Rs 50,000).
