India in England: Wriddhiman Saha shares ‘view from the balcony’, David Warner asks ‘is that room 318?’

Wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha shared a picture from his room’s balcony after checking into the hotel as the Indian cricket contingent reached the United Kingdom on Thursday morning.

The Indian men’s cricket team has finally reached Southampton and checked into the Hilton Ageas Bowl hotel which overlooks the cricket ground which will host the ICC World Test Championship final later this month.

The Indian men’s and women’s players, support staff and their families entered the bio-bubble in the United Kingdom after landing in London this morning in a chartered plane from where the entire touring party left for Southampton.

The Indian contingent will be staying in isolation for a few days before they can start outdoor training at the ground which they can see from their hotel rooms.

India wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha, who fully recovered from Covid-19 and joined the Test squad in Mumbai last month, shared a picture from his room’s balcony after checking into the hotel.

Saha’s Sunrisers Hyderabad teammate and former captain David Warner was quick to enquire if he was staying in room 318 or not. Warner must have stayed in Southampton hotel’s room 318 before which is why he cheekily enquired about it.

“That’s our view from the room balcony..Your thoughts?” Saha captioned his post. “Is that room 318?” David Warner asked with a few smileys.

Southampton’s Ageas Bowl is where India will take on New Zealand in the WTC final from June 18. Virat Kohli’s Test side will then face England in a series of 5 Tests from August 4.

The Indian men’s contingent will be in the UK from June to September 14. They will face New Zealand in the ICC World Test Championship final in Southampton starting June 18 before facing England in a series of 5 Tests from August 4.

The WTC has been exempted from standard Covid-19 protocols by the UK government.

The Indian women’s team meanwhile, will play its first Test match since 2014 in Bristol under Mithali Raj from June 16 before Harmanpreet Kaur takes over the captaincy for the 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is from June.
