India declare at 574-8
India have declared the innings for 574 runs with Ravindra Jadeja left stranded at 175*. Could that have been a double hundred? Well, that can be left for a discussion on a day that might have had less action. Not this one. The session began with India at 468-7 and lost Jayant Yadav soon and seemed like India might get out for something below 500.
However, it wasn’t to be as Ravindra Jadeja brought up yet another partnership, the third one he was involved in and led India to 574-8. He added 103 for the ninth wicket with Mohammad Shami. Out of that 103, Shami scored only 20*.
Earlier in the day, both Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin brought up seperate Milestones with Jadeja notching up his second Test century and Ravichandran Ashwin bringing up his 12th Test fifty.
Lahiru Kumara out of the Test: On the morning of the second day of the first Test, Sri Lanka received a big blow as Lahiru Kumara, their express fast bowler was ruled out of the match and also the coming Test as a tear in his hamstring means that he would be out of action for at least two weeks
