In sync with season: As monsoon is about to bring respite, infuse a fresh lease of life into your wardrobe

Pitter patter raindrops… falling from the sky…How we are waiting for that sound to knock on our window, bringing the much-needed respite from the scorching sun. As we gear up for the monsoon, there is something more we need to be prepared for—the latest in the world of fashion. Weather and style go hand-in-hand, so we got talking with some ace designers who doled out this style guide to keep you on top of your fashion game this season.
Flower power
Dressing well is the easiest and the best way to keep our spirits high and Amrish Kumar, the creative director of aakré, says, “This monsoon, easy looking, floral prints are a go-to pattern. From sleeveless kurtas to tops made in natural fabrics in rich shades of greens and luscious teals, these are some of the trendiest styles to make your monsoon more memorable.”
Adding to the thought is celebrity designer Nida Mahmood, who says this monsoon will be toeing the sentiment of emotional attachments. “In recent times the consumer sentiment has hinged more firmly towards products and services that help people create stronger emotional ties with their inner and outer worlds.”
Hence her pick for this season would be, “Warm floral prints- both large and ditsy, familiar patterns and the safety net of happy pastels will be prominent. Monsoon always calls for those pretty girlie dresses in these prints. This monsoon opt for ruffled dresses with waterfall hemlines, full circular or A-line ones in varying lengths depending on the occasion. For the day, go for knee-length dresses while for evenings go for shorter ones.”
Best foot forward
“As we embrace monsoon this year, it would be great to amp up the wardrobe with bright and cool footwear options. It would not only add a stylish edge to the outfit but would also be a great functional element in the entire look. Choosing the right footwear alternatives that would protect you from the rains while heading out and serve the purpose of looking fashionable at the same time, would be a great tool for preparing for monsoon fashion. The right monsoon footwear has to be skid-friendly, waterproof, and helps in avoiding that unappealing spray of mud. It should also be easy to wash and dry.”
