IAS Officer Encourages People To Support Small Food Businesses By Sharing A Moving Video

Ever since the “Make In India” initiative has taken place, people have had an increased awareness of the need to support small-scale homegrown businesses. More and more people have started their own food businesses with their families, selling fresh meals and pickles from home. But, for some reason, we still tend to veer towards big brands and the need to buy from them. Fruit and vegetable sellers have been selling organic and fresh produce for ages; however, we prefer to buy veggies from supermarkets. In an attempt to garner support for the street vendors that sell fresh fruits and vegetables, one IAS officer decided to upload a moving post on Twitter.

Supriya Sahu, Additional Chief Environment Climate Change and Forest, Government of Tamil Nadu, shared a video clip of a family setting up their fruit shop early in the morning and captioned it as ” Saw this whole family working in sync late last night setting up their watermelon shop of the season. Always humbling to see small vendors & businesses working hard to earn their livelihood. Never bargain with them to save a few bucks, give them their due #SupportSmallBusinesses” Take a look:

The vegetable and fruit sellers on the streets have been an integral part of the food industry! We have been buying our daily produce from them over years, and these small businesses need our financial support to sustain their families. Even the smallest contribution makes a big difference for them! People on the internet decided to voice their support through Twitter by encouraging people to buy from street vendors:
