How to buy Google Play Pass subscription using UPI Autopay – Times of India

UPI (Unified Payment Interface) Autopay, introduced under UPI 2.0 by NPCI, enables users to set up regular payments using any UPI application that supports the feature. Customers can enable e-mandate for regular payments including mobile bills, power bills, EMI payments, entertainment or OTT subscriptions, insurance, and mutual funds using any UPI application.
Google Play UPI Autopay
Google Play previously only accepted payments made using credit or debit cards for the auto-payment of a Play Pass subscription. Google has now introduced UPI Autopay as a new payment method for subscription-based purchases on Google Play in India. To purchase a Play Pass subscription using UPI Autopay, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Google Play Store app on any mobile device.
  2. Tap on the Google account profile available in the top right corner.
  3. Select the Payments and Subscriptions option.
  4. Choose the Payment methods option.
  5. Under the Add payment method to your Google Account tab, tap on Add bank account with BHIM UPI ID option.
  6. Enter details including your name and address.
  7. Hit the Continue button.
  8. Enter the UPI ID of any UPI app you use, for example, Paytm, PhonePe etc.
  9. Hit the Add button.

Now, the UPI payment option has been added to the Google account. Head to the Play Pass section and follow these steps to buy a Play Pass subscription using UPI Autopay.

  1. On the Play Pass page, tap on the Get started button.
  2. Under the auto-renewing plans, select the plan.
  3. Under Subscribing on Play tab, tap on the UPI payment option that has been added and then, hit the Subscribe button.
  4. Verify Google account by entering password and then tap on the Verify button.
  5. Once verified, user will be subscribed to the Play Pass auto-neweing plan.
