How Google Photos’ new video editing tools can help Chromebook – Times of India

0
Google recently announced Photos users will be allowed to combine their pictures and videos with music and title cards — all with a few taps in the upcoming months. The tech giant has updated its blog post to announce the new movie editor and has mentioned that it will arrive first for Chromebook users. Apart from these, Google has also teased some new and improved default apps for Chrome which aim at increasing user productivity.
How this new feature will help Chromebook sales
According to a report by ZDNet, these new Chromebook features have been announced just before the back-to-school season which is “a major time of the year for Chromebook sales.” The report also suggests that the low-cost laptops could use a boost as consumers have shown more inclination towards premium PCs in 2022. Moreover, the report claims that Chromebook sales from HP and Lenovo have taken a hit since the middle of 2021.
How will the upcoming movie editor tool work
As per the blog post, the upcoming movie editor tool will help in making movies from scratch where users will be allowed to choose the videos and photos they want to include. Meanwhile, users can also select a theme and the people (or pets) they would like to feature. The upcoming Google Photos tool will “intelligently” choose the most meaningful moments from the long videos.
The app’s search capabilities are also expected to make it easier for users to select and then arrange photos and clips in the order they would like. The tool will also allow users to trim the videos and even edit them to adjust the brightness, contrast and more. Moreover, users can apply one of the Real Tone filters (added earlier in 2022) which are designed to adapt across all skin tones and can also add finishing touches like — music and a title card.
Other changes Google has planned for Chromebooks
To offer professional-grade video editing for Chromebook users, Google is also planning to add the LumaFusion app. This multitrack video editing tool will allow users to add graphics, visual effects, transitions, distortions, audio tracks, sound effects, narration, colour grading and more.
On the other hand, to improve productivity, the tech giant will soon add new PDF editing features to Chromebook’s default media app, Gallery. The company is also adding a new, pre-installed Cursive app that will allow users to — capture, edit and organise handwritten notes on stylus-enabled Chromebooks. This will help users to copy and paste their notes into another app or to send them as a PDF.
Apart from these, Google will also add a preinstalled Screencast app to Chromebooks that will allow users to — record, view and share transcribed videos and presentations.
