Honor has launched a new foldable smartphone and sequel to its first one – the Magic Vs. The second iteration of Honor’s foldable smartphone improves on the hinge, letting it close without a gap, and also reducing the overall weight of the smartphone.
Honor Magic Vs: Price and availability
The Honor Magic Vs comes at a starting price of CNY 7,499 (around Rs 85,751) and is already up for preorders in China, with the first sale scheduled for November 30. And the Magic Vs will be the first foldable smartphone of the company to launch in the international market, as confirmed by George Zhao, CEO of Honor.
Honor Magic Vs: Specifications, features and more
The Magic Vs features a folding 7.9-inch FHD+ inner display with a 90Hz refresh rate and aspect ratio of 90 per cent and a 6.45-inch FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED on the outside. Both the internal and external displays are 10-bit panels and come with HDR10+ playback support and 1920Hz PWM Dimming technology. And there is also support for the stylus.
There have been some changes made to the hinge, which is now gearless and can last up to 400,000 folds and makes the display “practically creaseless,” as per Honor.
Powering the Magic Vs is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset paired with up to 16GB RAM and 512GB of internal storage. The smartphone runs Android 12-based MagicUI 7.0 custom skin. A 5,00mAh battery backs up the smartphone, which can be charged from 0 to 100% within 44 minutes, with a 66W charger included in the box.
The Magic Vs comes with a triple-camera setup. Leading the trio is a 54MP Sony IMX800 main sensor coupled with an f/1.9. The other two units are an 8MP telephoto camera and a 50MP ultrawide camera that also doubles up as a macro shooter.
On the front, sitting inside the punch hole in the outer display is a 16MP camera for selfies. While there is a camera inside, we do not know much about it except that it should suffice for video calls.
The smartphone comes in two variants – a standard, which comes in three colours, Cyan, Black, or Orange. Meanwhile, the Ultimate Variant, which is the highest-end storage configuration, comes in Black and Gold colourways.
