Here’s when Apple may completely ‘break up’ with Intel – Times of India

Back in November 2020, Apple announced its own silicon processor called the M1. The M1 processor brought a new MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and Mac mini in tow. Apple also hinted when it will make the transition complete from Intel-based devices to M1-based devices.
Now, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has detailed when the transition will be complete. In his weekly newsletter, Gurman has said that Apple could complete the transition by November 2022. Apple had set a two-year timeline and Gurman believes that it could “barely hit” that target.

What M1 based devices can we expect

According to Gurman, the new MacBook Pro models are the next devices that are expected on the M1 processor. However, it may be an upgraded processor that could be called M1X. The MacBook Pro models — 14-inch and 16-inch — could arrive in the coming months.
Next up could be a new high-end Mac mini that will arrive after the MacBook Pro models. No specific dates have been revealed by Gurman.
Starting in 2022, the iMac will completely be a M1 powered device. Apple launched the first M1-based iMac earlier this year in April. The smaller Mac Pro with M1 is also expected to come later in 2022.
Last but not the least, an all-new resigned MacBook Air with upgraded M1 processor is also being planned in 2022. This MacBook Air is expected to come with MagSafe support as well, says Gurman.

Will there be no more Intel-based Mac devices?

If Gurman is to be believed then there’s one more Intel device still in the works that Mac Pro. Rumours suggest that Apple could launch a Mac Pro that could be powered by Intel’s Ice Lake Xeon W-3300 processor. This could be the last Intel device that Apple could make and is expected to launch in 2022. So by November 2022, we could see Apple completely break up with Intel.
