Google rolls out Android 12L to Pixel phones, coming to tablets and foldable devices later this year – Times of India

Google first introduced Android 12L in October last year. After a couple of beta builds, the operating system is now rolling out to end users. It is, however, available for Pixel users. The new operating system is an update to Android 12 for big screen devices and comes with features that make tablets and foldables simpler and easier to use. It brings changes to the home screen, lock screen, notification shade, device set-up screens and settings.
With Android 12L, notifications and quick tiles will be moved to their own dedicated columns to give users more space to view and swipe away your notifications. When setting up a new device, users will be able to see more information on the screen with the two-column layout.
Users will also be able to make changes to features in the device’s Settings without having to go in and out of each section. For example, if a user wants to change the wallpaper on their device — select “Wallpaper & style” from the navigation panel and make pick on the side, all in one view.
Google has also added a taskbar to help multitaskers launch and switch between apps on the spot. Users will be able to drag-and-drop any app from the taskbar to enter split-screen mode, allowing them to do two things at once. With Android 12L, users will be able to watch a YouTube video while scanning the news, or search for accommodations for an upcoming trip in a Chrome browser while viewing its location in Google Maps.
In its blog post, Google also said that the Android 12L operating system will be made available to tablets and foldables with planned updates from Samsung, Lenovo and Microsoft. “And we’ll continue to build more features and functionalities to help you make the most of your larger screen devices in Android 13 and beyond,” it further added.
